The Zealandhaus is a beautiful home located in The Ridges with a design not unlike a split rock revealing the dazzling crystals within. It features a serene outer layer of smooth stucco, a secondary layer of burnished copper with a rich patina, and large ribbons of floor-to-ceiling glass, revealing the elegant contents inside. Lush vegetation and screened copper provide the homeowners with a prudent level of privacy while still showcasing the beauty of the home.
Hoogland Architecture is a multidisciplinary architecture and design firm based in Las Vegas and led by Henry CJ Hoogland III, AIA. Our experience and portfolio encompass works of architecture, programming, interior designs, landscape designs, and master planning. Our work centers on our clients’ aspirations, the particular project’s context, the potential of a site, the possibilities of materials, the realities of construction, and the relationships between light and space. We listen to our clients, users, and participants.
Our integrated design approach draws upon the experience of our design team members and the expertise of potential contractors and craftspeople. This approach results in architectural solutions that respond directly to our clients’ program needs, to budgets and timelines, and to the realities of construction processes while providing tangible value to our clients’ projects.
We believe that an authentic, architectural experience can only be crafted through the vigorous gathering of input, creative exploration, the development of architectural ideas, critical design feedback, a free flow of ideas, and an iterative, evolutionary, and collaborative process. Exceptional design comes through distilling and editing. We believe the details of a project should always be in service of the larger architectural ideas and the physical realities of building and construction sequencing. We believe that real “sustainability” is built into the initial concept of a project and has long-term cost, health and environmental implications.
We believe in the positive effect of great architecture in peoples’ lives and the ability of architecture to heighten the senses, to nurture, and to inspire. We endeavor to create spaces and places that are original, authentic, and specific. We aspire to create works that are sympathetic to both urban and natural landscapes. We strive to create architecture that is human and functionally poetic; that is both forward-thinking and at once timeless.
