I was inspired for this work in our beautiful seaside town of Rockport, MA, which I visit yearly.I love the sea and the color ultramarine. In this work I contrasted the wavelike, musical lines of the blue with hot and bright autumn colors.

Maira Reinbergs - Bio "I was born in Riga, Latvia. As a small girl I loved to dance and did piles and piles of drawings. Summers I spent in the country – at my grandfather’s. There I was given total freedom to roam the meadows, fields of rye, the apple orchard, the river bank. Maybe this is why I became an artist – being so much by myself, immersed in the beauty of nature. My paintings are explorations of color and line. I strive to capture their illusiveness, subtleties and mysteries. Often music influences my work; lines and color variations express movement, continuity. I want my paintings to express beauty, harmony, tranquillity." Maira holds a BFA degree from Massachusetts College of Art. She has exhibited in galleries in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, upstate New York and Canada. Well-known companies have displayed her work as part of the Corporate Art Loan Program of the deCordova Museum. Her paintings are in many private collections as well as in three museums in Latvia. Maira has received numerous awards – in 2016 she was Grand Prize Award winner from the Pawtucket Foundation and in 2017 she was the Grand Prize Winner from the Society of Latvian Artists in Canada. PS: Because of the sensitive color nuances my work is difficult to reproduce accurately. The originals always look more vibrant.
“If there is purpose to her work, it is to wash away with a stroke of her brush all that is ugly, cacophonic and strident, and all that would anger the soul. She succeeds admirably.” - Deforest Shelley (Lake Placid News)
