Founded in 2004, LJLdesigns focuses on enhancing every aspect of their client’s design experience. Each project is approached with an open mind and a well-honed ability to listen. With a deep belief that the client’s vision drives the project, LJLdesigns strives to reflect this vision with great enthusiasm and creativity.
Lisa Lorino, the founder and pre-eminent “relationship builder” of the company combines an enviable amount of both design savvy and business acumen. She actively directs the design work on each project, developing inspiring ideas and sumptuous solutions with her staff. Setting the firm’s high standards, she ensures project completion exceeds expectation.
Traveling the world for just the right inspiration, she has a firm grip on each project’s unique location, culture, history and geography. Paying homage to these inherent design factors, while staying on top of current trends is part of what drives her impressive array of talents. Lisa and her talented group provide professionally seamless service characterized by charming warmth and obsession for detail.
Working with an internationally based, discriminating clientele early in her career provided Lisa with a powerful influence. Another major impact was exposure to the level of industry leaders she had access to. David Rockwell was an early mentor and she began her career at his famed Rockwell Group in New York City. Their philosophy was “If you can think, dream, or design it – someone can build it.” This slogan left a deep impression on Lisa and remains a heartfelt ideal.
Surrounding herself with another group of innovative designers in the hospitality industry, Lisa became the youngest ever Vice President at BraytonHughes Design Studios in San Francisco. During her decade at this esteemed firm she gained incomparable experience working with such clients as Four Seasons Hotels, Hyatt Hotels, Keenan Land Company, Capella and Discovery Land Company.
Based on client requests for her to design their residences, Lisa founded her own firm, LJL designs in 2004. Her outgoing personality, passion for design, and incredible work ethic resulted in many new clients for her burgeoning enterprise, while maintaining her leadership role at BraytonHughes.
In 2010 Discovery Land Company approached Lisa to collaborate on a 13,000 square foot residential renovation in Beverly Hills. Upon completing this prestigious project, Lisa segued into residential design full time.
“My approach is to provide the most elegant, refined interior possible. If I had to describe my look it would be contemporary-classic, built-to-last and timeless. I love leaving my clients with individually designed pieces and surprising finishing touches.” – Lisa Lorino
