I’m Bart Stillekens and I was born in Tilburg, the Netherlands, on 12 January 1993. As you can see, I’m young, but also creative, innovative and a constant seeker, although, from my earliest days I’ve always loved to draw. At the age of 10, I drew on the beach for anyone who wanted (fake) tattoos and at school I filled entire schoolbooks and notebooks with everything except for whatever work I was supposed to be doing for school.
Along with drawing, I also have another passion: music. I not only love to listen to music, but also downloading and preparing entire playlists for parties of friends and acquaintances. So it quickly became clear to me that, in any event, school was not my cup of tea and, after the shortest school period possible, I went to work at my father’s company to help me fund my passions. Unfortunately, I had to leave the company after my father sold his shares, and I decided at that time to once again focus on my passions intensively and more seriously. Using the hard-earned pennies I somehow managed to scrape together, I purchased a Pioneer DJ set and I also started to take lessons. At the same time, I started to create graffiti/street art and that went very well and was received enthusiastically, at first by family, friends and acquaintances. And having my family’s support was important, because it led to them to give me permission to use the garden shed at home to practice on.
Over time, because of the major productivity and intensity of my work, after a month I decided to lease a larger space: an attic studio at a beautiful location in the heart of Tilburg City Centre. I spent entire days, evenings and sometimes nights in that hard at work in that studio to make as many beautiful things as possible. I love pop art, characters, street art and modern art and all of that is reflected in my creations. I work with spray paint, acrylic paint, acrylic marker, oil paint, oil marker, ArtResin and epoxy. My passion has now become my full-time lifestyle and that is something that I am very happy about and that makes me really proud.
