Tell us about yourself and background. Iamtheconsummateexplorer.Iamfrom Minnesota, majored in Asian Studies at Hamline University.IlivedinJapanforthreeyearslearning ceramics, calligraphy and Noh theatre. I also studiedphotographyandfilmmakingandcreated experimentalfilms.Ihavebeenonthecuttingedge of digital design as a Creative Director. My art career spans ceramics, geometric abstraction oil paintings, blur motion photography to create geometric images lit by lights, projections of moving images and lightinstallations. Tell us about your work. My art is on the edge of technological advancements spanning printing, lighting, photography, video, mirrors, 3D glasses viewing paintings and virtual reality. I create art experiences that place the viewer in the art. I want the art to have a sense of awe and inspirationthatbothchallengeviewerstosee anewwhilecreatingasenseofsurpriseand delight while in the experience. I use colors knowing that they have a psychological and physiological effect onpeople. What makes your work and approach unique? Majorachievementsincludebeingcommissioned to create two large-scale art installations at the Minneapolis–St.PaulInternationalAirport,create the Rainbow Pyramid Light Experience for the NorthernSparkFestivalandbeingafeaturedlight artist at Art Miami. I won the Exposure Award in the Ultra Color Collection and my image was presented at the Muse du Louvre. I have been featuredinTVshows,radioshows,magazineand newspaper articles and art websites … and, of course,theDESTIGTop20Artistsof2018award. What are your sources of inspiration? Art and technology are rapidly changing. I am inspired by new ways to create light and color experiencesandlovebeingontheleadingedgeof exploration and creation. Tell us the back-story of some of your projects. IcreatedinstallationsattheMinneapolis–St.Paul Airport. The 50’ long “Leap of Joy” was meant to convey the sense of joy and magic of travel and moving forward with life. “The Aurora Borealis” brings the colors of the Northern Lights to life in theairport.“L’EtoileduNord”or“StaroftheNorth” ismeantasabeacontosaythatanybodyofany race, religion, sexual persuasion or nationality is welcome inMinnesota.
